Frequently asked questions

Everything studios ask before shipping with Projects.ink — plans, features, integrations, and how your data is handled.

Getting Started

Projects.ink is project management built for game studios. Sprints, milestones, builds, and playtests live in one workspace — with boards, timelines, calendars, and an AI producer included. It's free for indie studios, and your first milestone takes minutes to set up. Start free →

Small game teams: indie studios, co-dev and support teams, game jam crews, and solo developers who've outgrown spreadsheets. Art, design, code, and audio all work on the same board. If your team tracks production in Excel or a chat thread, Projects.ink was built for you. See all features →

Yes. The Free plan includes 2 active projects, 2 team seats plus 1 guest, and every view — Kanban, Gantt, Calendar, and List. No credit card, no trial countdown, no view gating. You only pay if your studio outgrows it. Compare plans →

About five minutes. Create a project, name your first milestone, and add tasks — the board, timeline, and calendar fill themselves in from there. Every new project starts with a sprint already set up, so you're never staring at an empty workspace. Read the quick start guide →

Yes — that's one of the most common ways studios start. Import from CSV or Excel, or paste messy text like a client email and let the AI sort it into structured, prioritized tasks. You can preview everything before it lands on your board. Start free →

No. Creating an account and using the Free plan requires no credit card — there's no trial countdown and no surprise charges. You only add a payment method if you decide to upgrade to Pro. Start free →

Projects.ink is available in English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, and French. The interface follows your browser language automatically, and you can switch anytime in settings.

Projects, Tasks & Views

Six: Board (Kanban), List, Timeline (Gantt), Calendar, Planner, and Canvas — all showing the same data from different angles. Switch views in one click, on every plan. We don't believe in view gating. Explore the views →

Yes — that's exactly how they're meant to be used. Plan two-week sprints that roll up to Alpha, Beta, certification, or launch, and drag tasks between sprints as plans change. When scope is agreed, you can lock the sprint so nothing sneaks in. Learn about sprints →

Drafts is your idea parking lot — tasks that exist but aren't scheduled into a sprint yet. Keep playtest ideas and “someday” features there, then drag them into a sprint when they're real. Nothing gets lost, and your active sprint stays clean.

Yes. Mark any task as blocking or depending on another, and the timeline draws the arrows for you — so you can see the critical path to your milestone at a glance. Circular dependencies are caught automatically, and blocked tasks are clearly flagged. See task dependencies →

Yes — every task supports sub-tasks with checkboxes and a completion percentage. “Boss fight” becomes arena blockout, phase transitions, and music mix, each tracked separately. Sub-task progress shows right on the card.

Yes. Log hours and minutes against any task with dated entries and notes, and see running totals in the task's detail view. Handy for contractor invoices and co-dev billing. Time logs are included in project exports and reports.

Every task gets a short number like #123 that's unique within its project. Use it to reference tasks in comments, chat, and commit messages — or search for it directly. It's the fastest way to say “that task” on a team.

AI Features

Think of it as an AI producer. Paste design notes or playtest feedback and it creates structured, prioritized tasks. Ask “what's blocking Sprint 3?” and it answers from your real board. It can also polish task descriptions and build dashboards from your live project data. Try it free →

Yes. Paste a publisher email, meeting notes, or a messy to-do list — the AI detects the tasks, their priorities, and their details, then shows you a preview to edit before anything is imported. It works in multiple languages, including English and Chinese.

The AI reads your project data only to answer your questions and do what you ask — like summarizing a sprint or creating tasks. It follows the same permissions as your account, so it never shows you data you couldn't already see. Your projects are never shared with other studios.

AI dashboards are custom analytics pages built from your live project data — velocity charts, workload heatmaps, overdue trends, and more. Describe what you want to see and the AI assembles it. Every studio starts with a ready-made system dashboard.

AI features include a generous monthly fair-use allowance that resets automatically, and your remaining quota is always visible in the app. Most studios never come close to the limit.

Integrations

Yes — deeply. Link a Discord channel to a project and updates post straight to your server. You can ask the bot about project status with slash commands, @mention it for AI chat, or react to any message with 📋 to turn it into a task. Your team stays in flow without leaving Discord. Set up the Discord bot →

Connect your studio's repo once, and the busywork disappears. Merging a pull request moves the linked task to Done, new branches follow your naming convention in one click, and build pass/fail badges show on every task card. No more chasing programmers for status updates.

Yes. Connect Outlook or Google Calendar in a couple of clicks and your project's important dates — milestones, deadlines, reviews — appear where you already check your schedule. Connections are per project, and you can disconnect anytime. Read the setup guide →

Yes. Projects.ink ships a native Unreal Engine 5 plugin that shows who's editing which asset, so two people don't stomp the same level or blueprint. It's built by a game developer, for game teams. Read the plugin guide →

Yes. Every project can have API keys with granular read/write scopes, plus webhooks for automation — so your tools can react when tasks change. Only project owners and admins can create keys. Read the API docs →

Discord and Google Chat integrations are live today. Slack and Microsoft Teams are on the roadmap — tell us what your studio needs → and it helps us prioritize.
