Markdown Support

Comments support Markdown formatting:

  • Bold: text

  • Inline code: wrap with backticks
  • Code blocks: wrap with triple backticks
  • Lists, headings, blockquotes, and more
  • Task lists: - [ ] item

Use the Write/Preview tabs above the input field to preview how your comment will look before sending.

@Mentions

  • Type @ to see a dropdown of team members
  • Select a member to mention them
  • Mentioned members see a highlight indicator on the comment

Reply to a Comment

  • Hover over any comment and click the Reply icon
  • A "Replying to…" banner appears above the input, showing the message you're answering
  • Send your reply — it displays a quoted preview of the original at the top of the bubble
  • Tap the quoted preview to jump back to the original comment
  • The original author is notified that you replied

File Attachments

  • Click the paperclip icon to attach files
  • Use keyboard paste (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) for supported clipboard files/images
  • Supports images, PDFs, Excel/CSV files, documents, and archives
  • Pending files appear beside the input before you send
  • Comments can be text-only, file-only, or text plus files
  • Files upload only after you send, and the whole message is kept together if an upload fails
  • You can cancel an active upload; your draft and selected files stay ready to retry
  • If you close a task with unsent text or files, Projects asks before discarding them
  • After sending, Undo can remove the new comment and uploaded files for a short time
  • Image, PDF, CSV, and Excel attachments can be previewed from the comment bubble

Comment Display

  • Your comments: Right-aligned, blue background
  • Others' comments: Left-aligned, gray background
  • Each comment shows the author's avatar and name
  • Timestamps appear below each message
  • Markdown is rendered in the chat bubbles
  • In light theme, selected text uses a stronger blue highlight so copied content is easier to see

Deleting Comments

  1. 1.Hover over your own comment
  2. 2.Click the delete icon that appears
  3. 3.Confirm deletion
Note: You can only delete your own comments.

Best Practices

  • Be specific: Reference what you're discussing
  • Use formatting: Bold key points, use code blocks for technical details
  • Keep it professional: Comments are visible to all members
  • Use for discussion: Not for task updates (use status/fields instead)

Activity vs Comments

  • Comments: Discussion and collaboration
  • Activity Log: Automatic tracking of all task changes

Switch to the History tab to see the activity log, or the Links tab to see all shared URLs.
